Calculation method

How the planner handles your numbers

Vendor true cost: Package price + required fees + travel or delivery + rentals + likely overtime + tax on that subtotal.
Committed budget: Only selected quotes count as commitments. Other saved quotes remain available for comparison.
Payments: Deposits and balances show cash flow. They do not add a second copy of the vendor contract to the budget.
Guest projection: The planner keeps non-catering costs, replaces tracked catering with guest count × catering per guest, then compares the result with the total budget.

Planning estimates are not vendor quotes. Check the taxable subtotal, payment terms, service scope, and local rules before signing.

Silverline starts $300 lower, but Willow finishes $108 lower after the same cost fields and an 8% tax assumption are included. These fictional numbers demonstrate the calculator method; they are not market averages.

How totals work: selected vendor true cost is a commitment. Payments reduce the amount still payable but do not increase contract cost. Other expenses reduce available budget separately.

What "Selected" means: selecting a quote adds its true cost to your commitments and makes that vendor available in the payment tracker. Unselected quotes stay here for comparison.

Tax assumption: the rate is applied to the package price and every extra entered above. If a quote taxes a different subtotal, ask the vendor for the tax amount and use an effective rate that reproduces that amount.
